El Salvador sets minimum wages by sector rather than nationally. The last general increase raised commerce, services and industry to $365 a month.
What it buys
A single minimum-wage income does not cover the household basket in urban El Salvador, which is why remittances matter as much as they do and why two-income households are the norm. Compare against the cost of living.
Why agriculture is lower
Coffee and cane harvesting are seasonal and piece-rate in practice. The published daily minimum is a floor that is applied unevenly outside formal plantations.
For employers
Employer social-security and pension contributions add roughly 16–17% on top of gross salary. Budget the loaded cost, not the headline.
