Overnight closures on the Carretera del Litoral are scheduled through the rainy season while sections between La Libertad and El Zonte are resurfaced.

Closures run from around 9pm to 5am on affected stretches, with diversions inland. Daytime traffic is unaffected.

If you have a late flight in, tell your transfer company. The inland diversion adds forty minutes and some drivers will not take it at night. Booking a night near the airport and driving down in the morning is the easier answer for anything landing after eight.

If you are driving yourself, do not attempt the diversion in the dark. This is an unlit rural road with no hard shoulder, and night driving is the genuine risk in this country in a way that crime no longer is.

The works are part of the same Surf City programme that cut the airport-to-coast transfer to thirty-five minutes, and which has repriced coastal property along the way.
